Cricket News:

At sydney cricket ground last January, India battled spiritedly to save the game after Australian declaration, giving them just over two sessions to tilt the game in their favour. India were bowled out in 70.5 overs that day. VVS Lakshman and Sachin Tendulkar were the prime victims on that occasion ,both succumbed to a superb spell from Stuart Clark. They faced just 50 balls between them and it was upto Anil Kumble and Dhoni to steer India to safety. They would have succeeded in rescuing India that day, until those five deliveries from Clarke which sealed their fate.
On monday morning, India still needed to be on the crease for 75 overs to survive this cricket match. When Laxman joined Sachin Tendulkar in the morning, India still had to face 56.2 overs. Had any one of them fallen, it would have been a repeat performance of sydney. Apart from weather aided help at Lords last year, India's record for saving games on the final day is less than 1 out of 100.
Australia performed very well in this cricket match and fired all the salvos it had, but there was no let-up in intensity from Indian side too, and though few words were exchanged between players of both the teams there was no malice to sour relations as it did in Sydney.
