After midday fight allowed them to keep their hopes alive and afterwards at the end of the day a total of 311 for 5 it felt as though everything was even till the time for the Australians.
Australia still have hopes to win if they can dismiss Indian side quickly on the second day morning. But seeing the pitch condition its going to be a really tough task.
India showed their strength on the surface which is conducive to them and though the Australian attack was missing due to struart clarks absence, the debutant Peter Siddle struggled for creating an impact.
The first hour was like any other ODI with Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir firing at any misdirected ball and raced to 70 by the 15th over.
Despite an unexpected turn of events in the middle session when the score was 3 for 17 the day ended as it had begun with India in control. "We actually finished off alright for the day with scores standing at 5 for 311 considering the fact that they were 150 for 1 earlier. We came out of it allright" said Siddle.
