The West Indian batting sensation Chris Gayle has been elected as the captain in Stanford Super Series for the Stanford Superstars team. The series includes with greatest awards of total US$100m from which big match of US$20m will roll on the field at 1st of November '08 at Antigua against England.The Antigua and Barbuda captain Sylvester Joseph, will be deputy captain of Stanford Superstars to fight for the biggest prize in cricket.

The chairman of the Superstars' selection panel, Viv Richards said, "Our selection panel gave much thought to this selection and deliberated extensively and there was consensus that Chris is the man for the job, He's an experienced international cricketer, possesses a cool head and is the best man for the job in this all important match. Additionally the selection of Joseph who has been touted as one of the better leaders in the region pays compliments to Chris' leadership and it is also good to have a new and refreshing face in the deputy position."

West Indies has been led by Chris Gayle in 5 Tests, 19 ODIs and 2 T20 internationals. He also scored a massive century - against South Africa in the first ICC World T20 last year. Meanwhile, Joseph has played 5 Tests and 13 ODIs, and last played for West Indies at the tour of England in 2007.On the other hand West Indies' All-rounder Dwayne Bravo will miss the game after he has fallen in ankle injury. He was the deputy of Gayle in recent international matches. But the big cheers are the 17-man squad includes two of the great West Indians, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan.The Stanford Superstars and England will face each other in the first of five annual matches. And the total prize of US$100m will be shared as follows: $1m for each player of the winning team, $1m to be shared between the reserve players and $1m between the support staff. Each of $3.5m would go to the pockets of the West Indies and England boards.

The Stanford Superstars will play two warm-up games before facing England, during the Stanford Super Series, on October 25 and 30.
