Zimbabwe defeated Ireland in th first ODI of the Kenya Tri-Series in Nairobi. Zimbabwe won with a convincing 156 runs.Ireland in pursuit of 303 runs target lost 4 wickets within 14 overs.They could never reach their full potential and launch a fullfledged chase. It was a good win for Zimbabwe since they were easily beaten by Uganda just a day earlier.
Elton Chigumbura spearheaded the attack along with his partner Prosper Utseya, whose deliveries troubled Ireland. Niall O'Brien and Gary Wilson both were nailed by Chigumbura' shot of length deliveries.Ireland couldn't display much due to Zimbabwe's strict disciplinary performance. At halfway stage during the match there was a brief moment of entertainment when Kevin O'Brien made three huge sixes off Timycen Maruma's over. He lost his wicket while going for the fourth one.

Keith Dabengwa topped the bowlers list with 3 wickets for just 17 runs off six overs.Zimbabwe's batsman were instrumental in bringing victory for their team. Hamilton Masakadza was in superb form making 72 off 66 balls to cement the opening partnership of 71 with Cephas Zhuwawo.Zimbabwe batted with total concentration never panicking during the middle overs of the match.
